Mapping Culture and Accessibility: A Transmedia Approach to Buenos Aires
This project exemplifies my work in accessibility learning within digital media, with a focus on creating inclusive, engaging content for diverse audiences. Grounded in theoretical approaches to transmedia and digital humanities, the project was developed during a study abroad program in collaboration with a colleague, each of us bringing a distinct perspective. My contribution focused on literature, while my colleague explored another complementary lens.
Our work included the creation of a digital mapping tool using ArcGIS, designed to enhance understanding of cultural artifacts in Buenos Aires by integrating scholarly research with accessible digital practices. Beyond this, we co-authored a paper that was submitted to an academic journal, reflecting the depth and rigor of our research. The project culminated in a presentation at the Southeastern Council for Latin American Studies (SECOLAS) conference in Antigua, Guatemala, where we shared our findings with an engaged academic audience.
In recognition of the significance and quality of this work, I was honored to receive an Undergraduate Research Award. This initiative highlights my ability to integrate literary scholarship, digital innovation, and cultural analysis to produce meaningful, inclusive educational resources.
