Voice-Over Translation: Adapting Corporate Media for Global Audiences
In this project, I translated and adapted a corporate video script for voice-over from Spanish to English. The task involved not only translating the content but ensuring that the final product was culturally relevant and technically optimized for an English-speaking audience. Working with pre-timed scripts, I focused on maintaining the flow and tone of the original text while meeting the technical requirements of voice-over narration, such as timing and synchronization with visuals.
This assignment emphasized the importance of research and preparation. I analyzed industry-specific terms and provided context for concepts that required cultural adjustments. For example, I adapted terms like "ROI" (Return on Investment) and "MVP" (Most Valuable Player) based on their use in professional and sports contexts, ensuring they resonated appropriately with the target audience. Additionally, I provided guidance on pronunciation for proper nouns and brand names, preserving the company's identity and professional tone.
The process required balancing clarity and conciseness to ensure the translated text fit within the allocated time while maintaining the meaning and intent of the original script. This demanded a careful alignment of the translation with the intended pacing of the voice-over, highlighting the technical precision required in audiovisual translation.
This project showcased my ability to adapt content for diverse audiences while meeting the technical demands of audiovisual media. It provided valuable insight into the collaborative nature of voice-over work, where accuracy, timing, and audience engagement align to create an effective final product. This experience further strengthened my skills in cross-cultural communication and professional translation for corporate media.
